About

Gillian Telling is a writer and editor living in New York City. (OK, who are we kidding, she lives in Brooklyn.) Her journalistic endeavors have truly run the gamut, from writing about music and pop culture as an editor at Rolling Stone to covering men who masturbate in the office bathroom as an editor at Details. She was also the Editor-in-Chief of luxury hotel magazine Front Desk, and for several years was a sex columnist for Maxim, where she divulged women’s dirty secrets to over a million readers each month.

It was her hard-hitting interviews with countless women for the sex column that led to the publishing of her first book, Dirty Girls: The Naked Truth About Our Guilty Secrets (Unpretty, Unclean, and Utterly Horrifying) (Sourcebooks, 2010).  The humorous and often disgusting collection of stories takes a look at what women keep hidden behind their glossy, perfumed curtains—namely that they fart a lot when no one is around, and sometimes look at weird porn.

Dirty Girls was also published in Germany, where the title became:  Men are Gross, Women are too.

Now that Gillian is also parent, she’s writing for several parenting outlets and working on a second book about the things no one warns you about regarding having kids, like how awkward it is when your child is the playground asshole. She still remains much more of a sex and relationship expert than a parenting one.

She has also written a female comedy screenplay, several spec scripts and a TV pilot that revolves around a Brooklyn Playground.

Gillian is married (sorry fellas!) to fellow journalist and author Josh Dean, who recently wrote an awesome book about Show Dogs.

**Gillian is represented by Adriann Ranta at Wolf Literary in New York, and Adam Marshall at Caliber Media Co. in Los Angeles.
