Gillian Telling is a lifestyle, pop culture, luxury, humor and essay writer and editor living in New York City. (OK, who are we kidding. She lives in Brooklyn.) She’s also a branded content creator for ad agencies, copywriter, screenwriter, author and blogger. Her most recent position was as Editor-in-Chief of Budget Travel. Prior to joining the BT crew, she was a contributing editor at Star, Editor-in-Chief of luxury hotel magazine Front Desk New York and writing freelance articles for publications like Cosmopolitan, Manhattan, Hemispheres and Women’s Health. She also did copy writing for Bloomingdale’s and spent four years covering music and pop culture as an editor at Rolling Stone, and fashion and lifestyle at Details. For three years she was a freelance sex columnist for Maxim, where she divulged women’s dirty secrets to over a million readers each month.
It was her hard-hitting interviews with countless women for the sex column that led to the publishing of her first book, Dirty Girls: The Naked Truth About Our Guilty Secrets (Unpretty, Unclean, and Utterly Horrifying) (Sourcebooks, 2010). The humorous and often disgusting collection of stories takes a look at what women keep hidden behind their glossy, perfumed curtains. (NOTE TO MEN: DO NOT READ THIS BOOK.)
Dirty Girls was also published in Germany, where the title awesomely became: Men are Gross, Women are too.
She has also written a female comedy screenplay, several spec scripts and a TV pilot that revolves around life at a Brooklyn Playground.
Gillian is married (sorry fellas!) to fellow journalist and author Josh Dean, who recently wrote a book about the bizarre subculture of dog shows called Show Dog.They have a three year old son who is adorable, even though he still refuses to be potty trained. You can read about his exploits here.
