A new season may technically be upon us, but I’m a real beach baby, and I like to make summer last as long as possible. As long as the weather is agreeable, most New Yorkers still go the shore, lay around Central Park and dine and drink al fresco during these early-fall months. So this issue of Front Desk is full of activities that you can still enjoy outside, from taking in the endless views at one of Midtown’s fantastic roof bars or joining in the craziness of the annual Halloween Parade in Greenwich Village.

Though I’ll admit, I am looking forward to autumn so I can wear boots and jackets again. I’m more excited for fall fashion than ever before because of all the great boutiques that have finally landed in New York, like London’s Top Shop, Korea’s Eryn Brinie, Sweden’s Tretorn and Paris’ Colette, which will be in our city this September with a one-month pop-up shop. (Check out New Soho Stores, p.32, for addresses.)

Another exciting thing happening this fall? Lipstick Jungle, the show about New York City career women, is coming back to NBC for a second season, starting mid-September. We sat down with native son Andrew McCarthy, one of the stars, to talk about the show and what he loves about the city. He gave us some great advice on cool things to do around the town.

So even though I’m sad to say goodbye to the warm, sunny days, there is plenty to look forward to—and, plenty of exciting thing to be found in this issue. We’re so glad you’re here, enjoying the turn of the season with us.
